Tudor Collins remembered at the Matakohe Museum

Two years ago the Warkworth Museum was approached by the Kauri Museum in Matakohe with a request to assist with an upcoming display. The exhibition was to feature the work of Tudor Collins. The Kauri Museum have a large collection of Tudors memorabilia but there were some gaps in it. They hoped we could fill those gaps.

The exhibition is set to run for two years and we agreed to the loan of some of our photographic equipment which belonged to Tudor.  The exhibition opened in December of 2016 and our President, Derek Hoggart and his wife Pat, represented the museum at the opening.

Lisa Tolich the Chief Executive of the Kauri Museum took advantage of a quiet period on the opening day to inspect some of the items loaned by the Warkworth Museum.

The display is very comprehensive and includes a mock up of his electrical and photographic shop in Warkworth. It contains lots of his personal items and examples of things Tudor used to sell,  including electrical appliances, radios and gramophones.
