Museums Hardship Fund

We would like to acknowledge and thank the TePapa National Services Te Paerangi team at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa for recently awarding us funding from the COVID-19 hardship fund. The purpose of the Museum Hardship Fund is to provide a grant designed to address the impact of forced closures and reductions on Museums as a results of COVID-19.

Due to continued lockdowns through COVID 19 and the closure of our borders our visitor numbers have dropped dramatically. Reduced visitor numbers has had an ongoing effect on our museum shop sales. In order to increase revenue for the museum, we need to increase visitors and identify other revenue making opportunities. The awarded hardship fund will be used to cover marketing initiatives such as contracting a marketing specialist and improve signage.

We would like to also acknowledge and thank the following people for supporting our application:

  • Mahurangi College
  • Warkworth School
  • Snells Beach School
  • Melanie Medland
  • Warkworth Library
  • North Haven Hospital
  • Marja Lubeck – Labour list MP
