Join us for three exciting talks from the Warkworth, Wellsford, and Puhoi museums. Hear about:
Benedict Remiger: Young Pioneer.
Jenny Schollum from the Puhoi Heritage Museum will talk about Benedict Remiger, an early Puhoi settler, who came out to New Zealand on his own as a 12-year-old.
John Southgate: Father of Warkworth
Brenda Yoxall from the Warkworth District’s Museum will talk about John Southgate. As one of the earliest settlers in Warkworth John Southgate contributed to the growth of the town and actively contributed to the social wellbeing of this new settlement, and for whom there was cause for his obituary to refer to him as “The Father of Warkworth.”
Sarah and Bessie Jerome, Mother and Daughter. Two Albertland Pioneer Women.
Peter Marsh from the Albertland and Districts Museum will give an illustrated PowerPoint session about Sarah and Bessie Jerome, starting from the Isle of Wight, their journey out to New Zealand, and their early life as Albertland pioneers.
Thursday 20th August. 10.30 – 12pm. Old Masonic Hall, Warkworth.
